Westover Police Chief Resigns to Join City Council, New Chief Named

Rick Panico resigned as the Westover Police Chief and will be taking over William Wilson's vacant city council position.  The city had 30 days to fill the empty seat on the council.  Wilson's resignation was accepted by the city council on Nov. 4, 2013.

The Westover Charter required that an open council seat needed to be filled by an election unless the spot is filled by appointment within 30 days.  Panico filled Wilson's seat shortly after.

Kenneth Fike filled Panico's position as Westover's Chief of Police.  The city conducted many interviews for this position, and felt that Fike was the best candidate.

Both Fike and Panico were sworn into their new positions at a council meeting on Dec. 2, 2013 and had their first days in their new posts on Dec. 3.
