Union Mission Prepares For Christmas Dinner

Posted: Updated:

The Union Mission in Fairmont serves more than 800 Thanksgiving Dinners to the needy every year.

Just a couple of weeks later, it does it all again.

The Union Mission said it is expecting to feed about 600-700 people on Christmas Day.

Volunteers will begin loading their cars with food and deliver meals to residents in need around 10:00.

Once deliveries are complete, volunteers will prepare for the in-house meal around 12.

"Generally it runs 100 to 150 less then what we do at Thanksgiving," said George Batten, Union Mission Director. "That's how we figure. We'll still prepare for 800. I'd rather have too much then too little. I'd rather people go away full rather then hungry."
