The Lumberport Elementary School Student Council has teamed up with the American Red Cross for a good cause.

The students want to help the typhoon victims in the Philippines.

They went Christmas caroling around Lumberport on Wednesday to collect donations.

The students and advisors sang classic Christmas songs like "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

"We're going caroling to raise money for the typhoon victims. We're going to sing We Wish You a Merry Christmas, Silent Night, and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer," explained Annalise Gentilozzi, the president of the student council.

Vice-president of the student council, Coby Gorby, explained how the event would work.

"We're going around the neighborhood and asking for donations and singing Christmas carols," Gorby said.

The students have raised more than $300 for the victims from donations collected in the school.

The student council is made up of students from grades Kindergarten through fifth grade.
