CLARKSBURG -

Representatives from the Our Children, Our Future: the Campaign to End Child Poverty group were in Clarksburg on Wednesday.

The group met with Speaker of the House Tim Miley, D-Harrison, and other delegates.

They discussed the group's 10 point platform for fighting West Virginia's poverty crisis.

The group has five main issues they hope to get into the Legislature.

The representatives from Our Children, Our Future: the Campaign to End Child Poverty hoped to get Miley's support and feedback on the issues.

"He's aware of our issues and what we did in 2013. We had five top issues last year and we had five victories with those so we have built momentum. We're asking him to endorse these issues and to help us host a regional forum in the spring during the legislative season," said Lisa Wotring, with Our Children, Our Future.

The group discussed the issues they chose including raising minimum wage, increasing physical activity time for students, and fighting substance abuse.
