    The Mid-Ohio Valley Chapter of the West Virginia Master Naturalist program, in conjunction with Blennerhassett Island Historical State Park, is sponsoring a “Moth Watch” outing on Blennerhassett Island July 27. Participants will board the Island Belle sternwheeler at 7 p.m. for a river trip to the island.

Just announced as a special event of the Clay Center Presents spring performance season, southern rock jam band Gov't Mule will take the stage at 8 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Clay Center in Charleston.

What started as a side project for guitarist Warren Haynes and the late Allen Woody of the Allman Brothers Band, the Mule has developed a cult following and become a staple act at music festivals. Hear elements of blues, funk and hard rock mixed into a southern sound as this group of musicians plays a variety of original songs from the past two decades and music from its latest album.

The group's September 2013 release, "Shout!," includes 11 new tracks plus a bonus disc. Special guests Elvis Costello, Dr. John, Ben Harper, Toots Hibbert, Glenn Hughes, Jim James, Myles Kennedy, Dave Matthews, Grace Potter, Vintage Trouble's Ty Taylor and Steve Winwood interpret the Mule's new songs on this unique addition. 

Clay Center season ticket holders can buy tickets for Gov't Mule on Dec. 23, and Clay Center members and donors with performance benefits can purchase tickets on Jan. 9.
 
Tickets go on sale to the general public on Jan. 13. Tickets are $35, $30, $25 and $20 and can be purchased online at www.theclaycenter.org, in person at the Clay Center box office or by phone at 304-561-3570.
