Last-Minute Shoppers Take Advantage of Kohl's Extended Holiday Hours

Posted: Updated:

The holiday shopping season has been in full swing for weeks now, and now that we're in the home stretch, some national retailers decided to keep their doors open for days - literally.

Early Tuesday morning, plenty of local shoppers are taking advantage of those over-extended hours at the Kohl's on Emily Drive, which had been open for more than five days straight.

For holiday shoppers like Heather Keyser, the extended hours at its store on Emily Drive was a gift in itself.

"That's the only time I had to go. I worked seven days in a row, so here I am. It makes it easier for me to get my Christmas shopping done or else I probably wouldn't have any Christmas presents," said Keyser.

"I was so happy because my grandma, she takes a little bit of a long time to get ready, so I'm excited," said shopper Cieara Payne of Clarksburg.

Lisa Holt has worked at Kohl's since the day it opened almost 10 years ago. Holt said she's never seen hours like this season's but jumped into the role of "customer" as soon as her shift ended.

"I'm buying last-minute things for the grandbabies and the little ones," said Holt.

Sales Associate Sara Morrison worked until 6:30 Monday morning, then had to be back for her shift at 4 to accommodate the sporadic crowds.

"I'm supposed to be cleaning out the fitting rooms, but I actually had to be on the registers all day because we're a little short-handed," said Morrison.

But for father/son team Glen and Chris Shaffer - the fun of Christmas shopping wasn't over yet.

I asked them if they were done with their Christmas shopping. "Not even close," said Chris. "Not yet," said Glen. "we'll probably be back here tomorrow."
