The Energy Conservation Act signed in 2007 includes phasing out certain appliances, heating systems and light bulbs.

The last phase of incandescent light bulbs is happening right now. There will be no more production of 40 or 60 watt light bulbs. Stores will be selling these bulbs until the stock runs out. Lowe's Home Improvement said that the switch from using incandescent should be easy.

The long run of this, for the last three years the United States has decreased their energy consumption for all items, and the light bulbs are just kicking in now. It's a tremendous energy saver, there's millions and millions and millions of incandescent light bulbs out there and they are tremendous energy wasters, said Terry Wolfe, Lowe's Home Improvement.

The light bulbs are clearly marked for which watt will replace the 40 and 50 incandescent.
