Marion County Man Arrested For Receiving, Transferring Stolen Property

The Marion County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Fairmont man on multiple counts of receiving and transferring stolen property.

Chief Deputy Ralph Wright said William Edward Lewis, 69, was receiving stolen property and reselling it for a discounted price.

Deputies obtained a search warrant on Thursday afternoon. Upon searching the residence, they found $40,000 in cash, almost two pounds of marijuana, and nearly $150,000 in stolen property.

Chief Deputy Wright said people go would go to stores such as Walmart and Sears and steal high valued items which Lewis would purchase at a discount and then resell.

Deputies found computers, televisions, vacuums, dirt bikes, and more in Lewis' home.

Lewis' wife, Sherry Lewis, was also arrested and is being charged with conspiracy to commit a felony, according to deputies.

Both William and Sherry Lewis are being held in the North Central Regional Jail where they await arraignment.

Chief Deputy Wright said it the investigation is ongoing and more arrests could be pending.
