The Buckhannon Upshur Chamber of Commerce held a social media class Friday afternoon.

A representative from the Small Business Administration presented an overview of what programs it offers, and how social media can help small businesses in the marketing plans.

The SBA said social media takes time for those just starting.

"I think a lot of small businesses are afraid to use social media because it's a newer technology, and it takes a lot of time. It is a free marketing tool, but it does take time out of your schedule to manage it," said Nikki Bowmar, of the SBA.

About 20 people from various business attended the class.
