Update:

The West Virginia State Police said that speed was a factor in an accident on Friday night.

State Police said Jacob Patrick Lee, 23, of Fairmont drove into the back of an 18-wheeler, getting stuck underneath of it.

The police said the collision was caused because Lee was driving too close behind the 18-wheeler.

Lee was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital and police said his injuries are not life-threatening.

Original:

One man was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital after a two-vehicle accident in Harrison County on Friday night.

The Harrison County 911 Center said it happened just after 6:00 at the intersection of Route 50 and Route 98.

State Police said a man in a white pickup truck ran into the back of an 18-wheeler, getting stuck underneath of it.

The 18-wheeler dragged the pickup truck for more than 500 feet.

The truck driver is uninjured. The man in the pickup truck needed to be cut out of his vehicle and was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital by HealthNet.

Route 50 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The State Police are investigating.

Reynoldsville and Stonewood Volunteer Fire Departments, as well as Harrison County EMS, are assisted at the scene.
