WVU Students, MECCA 911 Collect Donations for West Virginians Without Water

Posted: Updated:

WVU Students are doing what they can to help the people in southern West Virginia who are living without water due to the recent chemical spill.

The Student Government Association was collecting supplies and donations in the Mountainlair.

Students were asked to donate paper products, baby wipes and cash donations.

SGA is hoping to set up more tables around campus throughout the week to collect as much as possible.

You can follow SGA's efforts by following the group on Twitter at @wvusga.

MECCA 911 and the WVU Baseball team also helped collect supplies for Charleston residents Sunday night.

MECCA took a 16 foot trailer filled with paper and plastic products, baby formula, hand sanitizer and cleaning products, along with almost 400 cases and 600 gallons of water.

The Giant Eagle on Greenbag Road is also donating eight pallets of water.

Collections will happen again after MECCA finds out what supplies are needed most.

If you are interested in donating, you can send checks to the United Methodist Foundation, 900 Washington Street, East, Charleston, WV 25391 (Please mark check WV VOAD Disaster Fund).
