Some Harrison County residents proved that social media and helping others is a powerful combination, as they collected more than 600 cases of water and other supplies and delivered them to a Charleston-area church.

Darren Hardman of Clarksburg and Robert & Pam Faber of Bridgeport said they knew they wanted to help the cause from the start but were shocked to see the donations pour in, after just a little more than 24 hours.

"We saw people loading up on water and talking about going down there and selling it, and that just didn't sit right with us. We were just planning on filling up the truck, and my wife decided to put something on Facebook, and then we just started getting calls. so we wanted to reach out," said Robert.

"There were some tearful moments down there, just to see the outpouring of how many people donated, and how much we ended up getting in that short amount of time," said Hardman.

"We just wanted to do something because we've been blessed for the past couple years with his cancer, so we wanted to reach out," said Pam.

Hardman and the Fabers said they couldn't have done it without the community's support.
