Students say 19-year-old Sheila Hopkins from Bluefield, West Virginia was a star in the classroom and on the basketball court.  She was found dead in her Hogan Hall dorm room on Wednesday afternoon, according to investigators with the Beckley Police Department.

"She was easy going.  She was easy to talk to," said Earl Reed, a sophomore at U.C. Beckley.

"She loved the game of basketball a lot.  She was always in the gym.  She was on the girls' team.  Anytime we... were trying to run 5-on-5 and we only had like 8 or 9 (players)... she'd be the first one to run to the gym.  She was just a really good person," said Reed.

Students say Thursday was a completely different day on campus.

"Quiet.  I noticed that when I just went in," said Catrina Johannesen, a senior at U.C. Beckley.

Scott Castleman, a spokesperson for the University of Charleston says Hopkins was loved by students, faculty, and those who coached the junior varsity Golden Eagles team.  He says a vigil or memorial of some type will be planned for the near future.

Detectives say they do not suspect foul play.  They also say they are waiting for autopsy results to continue their investigation.
