Volunteers prepare 1,000 care packages for our active military

Posted: Updated:

Volunteers with "Veterans of Foreign War" are giving back to active military for the 3rd year in a row.

They're making more than 1,000 care packages to be sent overseas. "Veterans of Foreign War" is then matching every box made.

"Adopt a U.S. Soldier" is partnering to help them send off boxes every month until school closes.

"It's very important to help out our soldiers. They're over there without their families, they need our support to let me know we love them and we care about them and they're not forgotten," volunteer Mary Brown said.

They are boxing up non-perishable food, drinks, personal hygiene items, books and newspapers. Items for the boxes can be donated to the front office of Coal City Elementary.
