Firefighters Respond to Jewel City Blvd. Fire

Posted: Updated:

Area firefighters responded to a report of a fire on Jewel City Blvd. near Hughes Camp Wednesday afternoon.  The call came into the Harrison County 911 Center just before 2 p.m.

The Spelter Fire Department said the fire started in the garage and spread to the house. No one was injured and no one was home at the time of the fire. The house and the garage received extensive damage and was declared to be a total loss.

The cold weather made it difficult to extinguish the fire, said the Spelter Fire Department.

Fire departments from Shinnston, Bridgeport, and Nutter Fort also responded to the scene.

Mike and Kathy Lane were identified as the owners of the residence. Mike told 12 News that he and his family are thankful for all of the support from the community. They received a number of donations and have opened an account at Huntington Bank in their name for anyone that would like to donate.  You can go to any Huntington Bank location and request to donate to this fund.
