Winter Weather Will Not Effect Completion Plans for Palatine Park

Posted: Updated:

UPDATE: The Palatine Park Revitalization said the winter weather will not change the completion date for the project.

The Marion County Development Authority said the winter weather has caused a lot of delays in Phase One of the revitalization.

The group updated the Marion County Commission this week.

Commissioner Butch Tennant assured the public weather would not play a factor in the completion date which is set for May 15.

ORIGINAL: The Marion County Commission was presented with the final plans for phase one of the Palatine Park revitalization at its meeting on Wednesday.

The county purchased the riverfront property near Palatine Park from CSX Transportation last year.

The Marion County Development Authority said it has been working closely with Thrasher Engineering to put together the final layout.

The paperwork highlights the parks biggest changes and additions.

Some of those include walking trails, a restroom facility, fishing docks, a boat ramp, and more.

"We've been trying to imagine what it looks like. Now looking at it, all the plans are there," said Butch Tennant, Marion County Commission. "Looking at everything like where the pipes and where the sewer lines, water lines will be. It gives me goose bumps just thinking about it."

The deadline for phase one of the project is May 15. Commissioner Tennant said phase two will begin shortly after.
