Area County Commission's Face Budget Cuts in Upcoming Year

Posted: Updated:

The Marion County Commission attended a three-day conference in Charleston this week.

Commissioner Butch Tennant said that the county participates in the Legislative Association Meeting and Educational Training Series each year.

Tennant said that they discussed a 15 percent cut in the state "lottery tax" revenues.  Marion County uses that money for several things.

"We try to use a lot of that for outside agencies.  Like when they comein and want to have the Feast of the Seven Fishes and stuff like that. There will be some cuts there.  I don't know how much it will effct us until we see what we're going to get," said Tennant.

Tennant said that Marion County is currently financially stable and that this budget cut won't effect them as much as it would for some of the smaller counties in the state.
