5 Marion County Schools Honored for Academic Achievement

Posted: Updated:

Five Marion County schools are being recognized for achievement in math, English, and language arts.

The West Virginia Department of Education honors schools in the top 10 percent in the state as high performing reward schools.

Marion County is number two for earning those recognitions.

"We are very pleased we had five schools. It's difficult to even get one school. Some counties failed to get any and I'm sure they will be working on that. One thing we will be working on for next year is for those five to repeat and hopefully to increase with some of our others," said Gary Price, Marion County Superintendent.

East Fairmont High School, Fairview Middle, Monongah Middle, Pleasant Valley and White Hall Elementary schools are being honored.
