Nearly a dozen ambulances were called to the scene of a school bus accident in Fayette County, WV.
The accident happened at about 2:45 p.m. on Route 61 near the Montgomery Bridge.
Dispatchers said 24 students were transported to area hospitals. Their injuries are minor and they were only taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, according to crews on the scene. The rest of the students were released to their parents after being evaluated.
The bus was carrying about 30 children at the time of the accident.
Dispatchers said the bus hit the side of a mountain.
Route 61 was shut down for some time, and there has not yet been a determination of the cause, but there was speculation at the scene that weather could have played a factor.
Officials with Fayette County schools said it is protocol that the driver of the bus take both drug and alcohol tests.
