Upshur County Board of Education to Hold Excess Levy Election

Posted: Updated:

The Upshur County Board of Education will hold its excess levy election Saturday.

The election would renew the existing five-year levy and would include funding for new textbooks and technologies, free extracurricular activities, and the prevention resource officer program.

Superintendent Roy Wager said many services depend on the levy.

"We would not have all the technology that we have available for our students. We would not be able to purchase all the instructional materials; those are all included in that levy. We would not have been able to do a lot of the capital improvements," Wagner said.

The levy could raise more than $3 million annually through June 2019.
