Bridgeport City Council Votes to Consolidate Charles Pointe Planned Unit Development

Posted: Updated:

The city of Bridgeport is moving forward in its development of the Charles Pointe development, as council members passed the first reading of an ordinance to amend and consolidate the Charles Pointe Planned Unit Development.

That means that over 20 additional acres across from the Bridgeport Recreational Complex, could also be used for recreational purposes.

City manager Kim Haws said council and the area's developer - Genesis Partners - were all initially concerned, but he's glad both sides have come together.

"The area we're talking about is about 1,200 acres within the city of Bridgeport. We certainly feel like it's going to be one of the primary areas of expansion within the city for future services, and we need to participate with the developer, making sure that it meets their needs," said Haws.
