FSU Participates in Random Acts Of Kindness Week

Posted: Updated:

You can't really organize random acts of kindness, but Fairmont State University is taking this week to encourage their students and staff to get involved.

It's a movement by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation to encourage more kind acts in communities across the country.

At FSU, University officials hope it's a lesson their students will pass on to others.

"It was just an idea that we had to kind of spread kindness through campus. We thought it was a good time and especially with how cold and gross the winter has been, we wanted to do something fun and give back to our students," said Amy Drvar, Civic Engagment Coordinator at FSU.

Here's a list of some of their other events happening this week.

  •    Wednesday, Feb. 12, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Main Street area on the second floor of the Falcon Center: Highlighters will be given away to students so they can give them to a friend. Also, during this time students, faculty and staff are invited to stop by the Shout It Out Loud table to share what they've done for RAK Week and to write their kind deeds on slips of paper that will be attached to the RAK display in the Falcon Center.
  •    Thursday, Feb. 13, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Main Street area on the second floor of the Falcon Center: Participants can make their own thank-you cards for friends, students, faculty or staff.
  • Friday, Feb. 14, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Main Street area on the second floor of the Falcon Center: Students can participate in a Snapshot for Kindness photo booth.
