Harrison County Prevention Partnership Holds Community Drug Education Training

Posted: Updated:

The Harrison County Prevention Partnership Coalition is continuing its quest to educate the public about drug trends and warning signs.

It hosted a community drug training course on Tuesday night, where police officers were on hand to teach people the different forms of street narcotics, bath salts, inhalants, and more.

"If they're driving through a parking lot and they think they see something that's not quite right, that they can call the police and say, 'Hey,'" said Janet Elliott, coordinator of the Harrison County Prevention Partnership Coalition.

"Coming out here and meeting the people who have the problems, the people who have to see this stuff every day, they are the backbone of where we get our intelligence," said Chief Deputy Jeff McAtee of the Harrison County Sheriff's Department Street Crimes and Drugs Unit.

The coalition's next event is a town hall meeting about prescription drugs. That will be held on March 11 at the Caperton Center in Clarksburg from 6 to 8 p.m.
