On Thursday, Buffalo Wild Wings in Bridgeport and United Way of Harrison County joined forces with a wing eating contest.

United Way raised $5,000 from flat pledges before the wing eating even got started. There were a total of nine contestants from all over Harrison County competing to eat the most wings and raise the most money to help support United Way.

Thursday's top winner for eating the most wings is Bret Fletcher and for raising the most money is Shawn Bennett raising a little more than $3,000 alone.

"In 2014 there are 21 agencies and 33 programs that are going to be receiving money from this challenge and other donors donations," said Executive Director Harrison County Marie Battles.

Wing eating contestant James Swiger also said, "It's very exciting. It's always a fun time you know to come out, a little bit of camaraderie and competition. I always like hot spicy food so it's always a fun time."

Over all United Way raised $8,621. United Way said that they're just a few thousand away from reaching this year's goal of $825,000.
