Governor Earl Ray Tomblin has appointed J. Thomas Jones to the WVU Board of Governors.  Jones' appointment will run until June 30, 2016.  He will be filling the term left vacant by Dr. Charles Vest, who passed away last year.

"Our colleges and universities unlock the potential of our young people by providing students with the knowledge and skills necessary to achieve greatness," Tomblin said.

Jones has served as President and CEO of WVU United Healthcare System.  Jones oversaw the expansion of the health system that is now the largest in the entire state.

Jones was inducted into the West Virginia Business Hall of Fame in 2012 and has served on the boards of the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce, American Hospital Association, the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission, and many other local, state, and national groups.  Jones was named one of the 50 Most Influential Leaders in West Virginia by WV Executive Magazine.

Jones is a native of Glen Dale, Jones is a graduate of WVU's College of Business and Economics with a business administration degree and received a master's degree in hospital administration from the University of Minnesota.
