FAIRMONT -

More than 100 people continued their Valentine's Day celebrations on Saturday night and supported a great cause at the same time.

The Marion County Child Advocacy Center hosted its inaugural ‘Have a Heart' Benefit Dance and Dinner at Fairmont State University.

The Child Advocacy Center serves as a home for children that have allegations of abuse and neglect.

For $150 per couple, those who attended enjoyed a cocktail hour, dinner, and a live performance by the Skinny's.

"Especially on Valentine's Day, people don't really like to think about abused kids. We thought it would be an amazing time for people to have a great time and do a wonderful service for the children of Marion County," said Donna Blood, of the Marion County CAC.

Volunteers said fundraisers are extremely important to non-profit organizations.

"These events have to rely on benefits such as these to raise money for the children so we'll be able to provide these services to them," said Samantha Lewis, Volunteer.

The CAC had a goal to raise about $20,000 at benefit dinner and dance. They said they plan to host it again next year.
