Fairmont General Hospital Continues To Educate Community On Heart Disease

Posted: Updated:

Fairmont General Hospital is using the last two weeks of February to continue spreading awareness on Heart Disease.

Hospital officials said Marion County as well as the state of West Virginia is notorious for heart disease due to the elderly population.

The hospital participated in the nationwide event "Go Red for Women" Day and representatives have been educating people throughout the community about the disease.

"We went to some organizations that week and gave talks on heart disease," said Yvonne Hershman, Nurse Cardiac Rehab. "Particularly those signs and symptoms for women with heart disease because their signs and symptoms may not always be exactly the same as typically men have."

FGH works with people who've battled heart disease each Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at HealthPLUS in Fairmont.
