WVU Baseball Team Honored For Community Service

Posted: Updated:

WVU Baseball coach Randy Mazey and his team were honored Wednesday by the Monongalia County commission for their community service.

The team helped residents following a deadly tornado in Oklahoma last spring, and more recently it collected water for Charleston residents.

Coach Mazey said it's about teaching life lessons.

"The stuff we did in Oklahoma our kids will remember for the rest of their lives. They won't remember the scores 20 years from now, but they'll remember helping making an impact on those families by helping them. And those are our life lessons and that's what we're trying to teach them," Mazey said.

Commissioners also wrote personal checks to buy season tickets.
