Officers from the Morgantown Police Department responded to two separate reports of breaking and entering on Feb. 11, 2014. One break-in occurred at Tanning World on 1450 Earl L. Core Road and Liberty Tax Services on 1639 Sabraton Avenue.
The suspect damaged the windows and doors of both locations to make entry into the buildings, according to Morgantown Police
Police identified Stewart Thomas Michaels, 42, of Monongalia County, as a suspect. Detectives later confirmed that Michaels was responsible for a number of breaking and entering violations throughout Monongalia County.
On Feb. 18, Detectives served a search warrant at 83 Woodland Terrace and confirmed the suspicion that Michaels was responsible for the Feb. 11 break-ins. Michaels was arrested on Feb. 19 and charged with two counts of breaking and entering. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
Additional charges are pending from the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office.
