The Randolph County Commission approved Thursday the selection of a new county 911 director.

Cindy Hart will start immediately as the new 911 director for Randolph County.

Current director Jim Wise is resigning to spend more time with his family.

Hart has been serving as 911 director in Barbour County.

The commission said Hart was chosen because of her long list of credentials she has in emergency management, a background in addressing and mapping, and flood plain management.

"With Randolph County there's a lot of opportunities. I can't wait to help the public. With Barbour County it is sad, so my heart is with them, and I hate to leave them, but I will stay on and assist their 911 center, until they get somebody and I can train them," said Hart.

"Jim has done an outstanding job. He's made great strides in the emergency preparedness of Randolph County. There's some big shoes to fill, and I think we found someone to fill those shoes, said Mike Taylor, county commissioner.

Wise's last day is Feb. 28.

The commission also approved hiring Erin Golden as the regional director for the North Central West Virginia Community Corrections Program.

Tucker County is applying for a grant to run its own community corrections program, and will be withdrawing. Services will be provided still until June 30. The program currently serves Pocahontas, Randolph and Tucker Counties.
