Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum Will Open to Tourists

Posted: Updated:

In only a few short weeks Lewis County's largest attraction will open for the year.

The Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum will reopen its doors for the first time this year on March 29.

Crews have almost finished restoring yet another portion of the asylum to show off during tours.

And for the first time this year, the haunted history of the building will also be on display for the asylum's daytime guests.

"We've never had a paranormal exhibit, and this year will be the first year for that, so we're in the process of collecting different types of evidence that folks have gotten here throughout the course of the year," siad Rebecca Jordan Gleason from TALA.

The asylum will also offer a new tour highlighting the architecture around the building, and the first hundred guests will receive a gift on opening day.
