FGH Hosts "Look Good Feel Better" Free to Cancer Patients

Posted: Updated:

Fairmont General Hospital gives patients who are battling side effects of chemotherapy an opportunity to look good and feel better every year.

The American Cancer Society and FGH will hold the "Look Good Feel Better" program on March 10 at the hospital.

The program is free to cancer patients and very hands on.

Trained cosmetologists are also on hand to teach women how to safely apply makeup during cancer treatment.  Tricia Julian, from FGH Oncology said that cancer treatment can alter how women feel about themselves.  This workshop is here to help them.

"The women come in and are taught as a group how to safely use makeup products and then the cosmetologist then goes around to each one of them and helps them apply the makeup products. In addition to that, we have a wig bank here at the hospital where we provide free wigs and scarves," said Julian.

Each person is given full size name-brand cosmetics for use during and after the workshop free of charge.

The event will take place on March 10 beginning at noon at FGH.

For more information about the program please contact Tricia Julian, Oncology Education Coordinator, at 304-367-7247.
