Update: Spelter Fire Department Responds to Working Fire in Erie

A fire started in Erie along Route 19 in Harrison County a little before 9 a.m. Thursday morning.

The Spelter Fire Department said the fire started in the kitchen due to a faulty crock pot.

No one was home at the time, and the fire was under control in a half an hour.

The fire was contained to the kitchen and one bedroom.

The fire department said the rest of the house suffered smoke damage, but the family will be able to live there.

A fire started on Maple Avenue in Erie, Harrison County a little after 8:40 a.m. Thursday.

The Spelter Fire Department, Lumberport Fire Department, Nutter Fort Fire Department, and Bridgeport Fire Department responded and were at the scene shortly after the fire started.

All units were able to put out the fire and there were no injuries reported.

Spelter Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
