Popular beauty product chain, Sally Beauty, has become a victim of data breach that may affect customers that used cards in their payment system.

On March 2, 282,000 credit and debit cards went up for sale on an underground crime store.

Fifteen of the cards that information was stolen from reportedly were used at Sally Beauty Supply stores.  Banking agencies looked into whether the cards had been used at the same locations over a certain time period and were able to report that the 15 cards had been in use within the past 10 days at stores all across the United States.

Karen Fugate, Sally Beauty spokesperson said that the company had detected a break in their network on Feb. 24, but the company was unable to determine a data breach. After the company did some investigating, they were able to notify banking agencies that their network, had indeed been breached.

The card information that was stolen from Sally Beauty have been reported to banks as fraud, and customers shopping at Sally Beauty nationwide from the last week of February 2014 until March, 2, 2014 are urged keep a close eye on their bank statements.
