The Morgantown Police Department has arrested a man in connection to an early morning burglary Monday on Fayette Street.
Officers responded to a reported burglary in progress from residents who heard someone walking around inside their apartment, said a news release from Morgantown Police Chief Ed Preston. Police found a suspect inside of a locked apartment, Eric Anthony Demasi, 34, of Morgantown, who they removed and continued their investigation. Officers said Demasi forced his way into the apartment by removing a window.
Officers recovered an XBOX game console, game controllers, video games, other items that were intended to be stolen, and credit cards and checks that didn't belong to the suspect.
Demasi was charged with nighttime burglary. The case is pending further investigation and more charges are possible, said Chief Preston.
