For this week's Test It Tuesday, Katie Dugan tried out a product that got a lot of requests, so she finally tested out the Chop Magic.
The commercial for the product said that it can chop, mince, slice and dice in just seconds. It also said that the Chop Magic could julienne peppers, squash and zucchini in a short amount of time.
The zucchini and squash cut really easily and sliced up really well.
The commercial said that it could slice through a sweet potato like a warm knife through butter, but out tests showed different results.
The blade couldn't be pushed through the sweet potato at all.
Next, it was tried out on a regular potato with no luck.
Katie couldn't push down hard enough to get through the potato, so photographer Michael Corley had to help out.
But his results were no better. He got the potato to go through partially, until all of the blades caved in, breaking altogether.
The Chop Magic was also supposed to be able to chop delicate tomatoes to perfection.
The directions said to place the tomato flat side down. Instead of chopping up, it just squeezed the juice and seeds out of the tomato.
The garlic was just as hard to chop up as the potato for Katie, so Michael Corley had to come back out, and he was able to get the garlic through and it chopped up nicely, but he had to use a lot of force to get it through.
The chop magic didn't really stand up to our tests very well, it failed overall. It did work with a few things though. Not one, but both blades of the Chop Magic broke during our tests.
