First Big 12 Team Arranges to Stay in Bridgeport

Posted: Updated:

For the first time, a Big 12 team will stay in Bridgeport instead of Pittsburgh when visiting for a football game.

Texas Christian University's team will fly into the North Central West Virginia Airport this fall. It will stay at the Wingate and have team meetings at the Bridgeport Conference Center.

Bridgeport Conference Center Executive Director Scott Duarte said they hope to get other Big 12 teams to do the same.

"They're the first that we have an agreement with to do this, and we're working with several other teams and we hope that more will follow suit and find convenience in traveling to Bridgeport. It's always been a goal of ours with the CVB, the airport, and our conference facilities to have those teams fly into our airport locally and stay with us, that way we can keep the money in our community," Duarte said.

WVU will play TCU on November 1.
