A Randolph County man charged with murder last year appeared in a Randolph County Court for a hearing on Monday.

Wade Raese, 27, was charged with first degree murder. Raese was accused of shooting Ryan Earl Young, 45, of South Carolina in a vehicle in the Highland Park area.

Young later died at Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Michael Parker said Raese appeared before Judge Steptoe, a senior status judge appointed to the case for special assignment by the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals.

Raese waived his right to indictment, and consented to being charged with second degree murder by way of an information filed by the state, said Parker.

Raese then entered a guilty plea, which Steptoe took under advisement pending review of the pre-sentence investigation report.

The case was scheduled for May 1, 2014 for sentencing.
