Morgantown Police Release "Second Seatbelt Enforcement Wave" Results

The Morgantown Police Department partnered with the Governor's Highway Safety Program and completed their "Second Seatbelt Enforcement Wave" on March 23.

This program concentrated on the importance of enforcing seatbelt and child safety restraint laws to ensure the safety of drivers and passengers.

Morgantown Police conducted 282 traffic stops during patrols.  The department issued 211 warning citations, 46 of which were seatbelt violations.  The department issued 143 citations, 60 of which were seatbelt violations, one was a child safety restraint violation. The department also issued 14 citations for driving on a suspended license.

Officers made one arrest for probation violation, and issued a citation for possession of marijuana less than 15 grams.  Officers also made a felony arrest for possession with intent to deliver narcotics, and seized more than $14,757 in cash from suspected drug profits.
