Former Harrison County doctor Dr. Allen Saoud has been sentenced to eight years in prison on health care fraud charges.
Saoud was convicted in June 2013 on health care fraud charges, identity theft, concealment of material facts in a health care matter, one count of obstructing the IRS, bankruptcy fraud, and making a false statement to the IRS.
U.S. District Judge Irene Keeley ordered Saoud to pay $2.5 million in fines, according to a court filing filed Tuesday. He will also forfeit more than $1 million.
Saoud will report to prison in May. He will be under federal supervision for three years following his prison sentence.
