CHARLESTON, WV -

Brad Ullman has been chosen as the new executive director of the West Virginia Golf Association.

The WVGA's longtime executive director Ken Tackett accepted a position as a tournament official for the PGA Tour, beginning in January. The WVGA immediately began a nationwide search to fill the position.

Ullman worked with the WVGA with a P.J. Boatwright Internship in 2007 before becoming a full-time employee of the association the following year. He was then director of Junior Golf and, most recently, the association's director of operations.

Ullman is a 2007 graduate of Fairmont State University.

The WVGA serves 11,000 members and conducts 14 state championships every year including the West Virginia Amateur Championship at The Greenbrier resort. The 2014 schedule also includes the West Virginia Open Championships, which returns to the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs.

Most recently, the WVGA has taken on administrative rights to The First Tee of West Virginia. The WVGA's goal is to have a First Tee in every school in West Virginia. Already there are programs at Charleston's Coonskin Park, Brier Patch Golf Links in Beckley, Locust Hill Golf Club in Charles Town, Minibel Golf Course in Vienna, Mountaineer Golf Course in Morgantown and Bel Meadow Golf Club in Clarksburg.

The WVGA also oversees the Callaway Junior Tour, the Wendy's Amateur Tour and the Senior Series and works closely with The Greenbrier Classic, West Virginia PGA and West Virginia Golf Course Superintendents Association.
