Harrison County Mayors' Association Welcomes Appointed Superintendent of Schools

Posted: Updated:

The Harrison County Mayors' Association welcomed a very special guest on Wednesday night: the newly appointed Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Mark Manchin.

Manchin sat down with six of the county's mayors about providing a quality education for students while working closely with administration and each community. Other city officials and council members were also in attendance.

Manchin said it's good to be back in North Central West Virginia, where he values the input of every mayor in order to advocate for students.

"As I walked in, a lot of old friends, people that have known my family for many, many years. You've heard the term 'It takes a village.' Certainly, all of us together, assuring that education is at the forefront for all of us," said Manchin.

Manchin said Wednesday's meeting won't be his last.

In January, Board of Education members voted to issue a contract to Manchin.  He will officially take over as superintendent on July 1.
