Preston High School and Central Preston Middle School dismissed early Thursday as a precaution due to a gas leak, according to school officials.
Assistant Superintendent Craig Schmidl said a "small leak" was detected in a gas line outside of the school building this morning. Schmidl said gas company officials are at the site and determined the leak did not pose a significant risk, but school officials decided to dismiss students at noon as a precaution.
Schmidl expects the gas company to complete repairs this afternoon and not impact Friday's schedule.
