WVU Police Arrest Student on Arson Charge

West Virginia University Police have arrested a student for arson in connection to an April 3 incident.  WVU Police said Michael Maiorino, 20, lit a flier on fire inside of the Arnold Hall Annex, which set off the fire alarm.

 Maiorino admitted to police to setting the fire, which did not cause any structural damage.

The West Virginia University Police Department are seeking witnesses about an incident that occurred early Friday morning.

At 4:15 a.m. on Friday, three white men had jumped another man on University Avenue.  The suspects left the scene of the crime as a witness approached and called 911.

UPD responded to another incident on Thursday, April 3 after a fire alarm went off at the Morgantown Fire Department.  The alarm sounded after the police discovered someone has left burning paper against a wall.

No injuries were reported and the fire department only suffered minor damages.
