State Fire Marshal Suspects Second Street Fire Intentionally Set



The state fire marshal suspects a fire that sent one man to the West Penn Burn Center was intentionally set.

The fire started Friday evening at an apartment on Second Street in Elkins.

A woman was also injured in the fire and was taken to Davis Medical Center.

The man's condition is still unknown. The fire marshal is still investigating.


First responders were called to a third floor apartment on Second Street in Elkins, Friday evening for a man who set himself on fire.

Elkins Fire Lt. Steve Himes said the call came in around 5:15 p.m. One man and one woman were taken to Davis Medical Center. The man was then flown to West Penn Burn Center in Pittsburgh.

There is no word on their condition or how the fire started at this time.

The State Fire Marshal, Elkins Fire Department and Elkins Police Department  are investigating.
