West Virginia Wesleyan's Jess Griffn was awarded by the Mountain East Conference on Monday. Griffin was named MEC Softball Player of the Week.
Griffin, a senior from Cooper City, Fla., was outstanding as both a pitcher and hitter as the Bobcats went 6-0 last week. Griffin went 3-0 with a save, and also tossed a no-hitter against West Liberty. She did not allow an earned run in four appearances. At the plate she went 11-for-18 (.611) with a team-best eight RBI in a 6-0 week for WVWC. She had a hit in all six games and had a slugging percentage of 1.056.
The Bobcats are currently ranked 23rd in the nation. Griffin's stellar week of play helped add to Wesleyan's dominance in the Mountain East Conference.
