Huntington Art Walk to observe second anniversary April 17

Posted: Updated:

Huntington's Art Walk celebrates its second anniversary Thursday, April 17.

Art Walk turns businesses within Pullman Square and along Third and Fourth avenues, into galleries with visiting artists displaying their work from 5-9 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month beginning in April and continuing through October.

While galleries restrict whom they allow to present their work, the Art Walk is specifically designed to draw a variety of art works with both traditional and unconventional works in the applied arts, including painters, photographers, sketch artists, jewelry, clothing, pottery and furniture designers. Performance arts, including musicians, mimes and mid-eastern dancers also are welcomed.

Artists need not reside in Huntington or West Virginia to participate.

Helping organize this year's event are photographers Chris Hayes and Chris Sammons.

Committee members say an "artist of the week" will be featured on its Facebook page. The committee also has created a "Go Fund me" account to raise money to purchase signs and decals to be placed outside businesses during the art walk. For information, visit

Among the participating businesses this year are Empire Books & News, The Pottery Place, Watercolors Dreams Gallery & Art School, Le Bistro Huntington, MUG and Pia, Adell's Antiques, Simply Whisk, Backyard Pizza & Raw Bar, Holiday Inn & Suites
