WVU to Require Students to Have Own Health Insurance

Posted: Updated:

Starting this fall, WVU will require all students to have health insurance.

Right now, student fees cover health costs, but in the fall, the university will begin billing insurance.

University officials estimate only about 15 percent of students do not have health insurance when they come to campus.

Officials also said the decision was made independently of the affordable care act requirements, and that WVU is offering an insurance package to its students.
