Sometimes people who display exceptional strength in tough situations make us realize our biggest worries aren't so big after all.

For more than ten years, Katherine Todd has been a teacher at the Doddridge County Elementary School.  Students describe her as an upbeat and energetic leader.  Friday evening, the community took the lead and gave back to the woman, who has given them so much.

Hard work, resiliency plus teamwork equals success. That's the motto at Doddridge County Elementary School, a motto first grade teacher Katherine Todd displays.

Second grade teacher, Tracy Robinson said, "she's warm and loving she's the type of person that would do anything for you."

Two years ago, Mrs. Todd was diagnosed with lymphoma and began her battle with cancer.   To her students and colleagues, she's an inspiration who's determined not to give up.

"She's an inspiration she always knows what's best for her students," said Michelle Rovey.

Former student Taylor Davis is hopeful Mrs. Todd will get better, "she's a very nice lady I think she can beat cancer!"

Staff and students held a "Hope" Basketball game to support and raise money for Mrs. Todd's treatment.  Firefighters, Police Officers, students, and teachers all showed up to play and join in the fight against cancer.

Mrs. Todd's daughter was overwhelmed by the amount of support they have received from the community, "it feels wonderful to know how much the community cares about her and is there to support her and help her though her journey."

Organizers hope to raise enough money to support her through treatment
