An armed robbery was reported at a Monongalia County bank Tuesday morning.

The robbery happened in the United Bank on University Avenue in Star City shortly before 9:30 a.m.

A witness across the street from the bank told 12 News he saw a man in all tan clothing run out of the bank and down Congress Avenue shortly before he heard the sirens of police responding to the scene.

Star City Police Chief Vic Propst said it is not believed that Tuesday's robber is the same person involved in the March 26 robbery.  Chief Propst said Tuesday's robber put the money in a Kroger grocery bag and used a hand gun.  Chief Propst described the robber as "knowing what he was doing", as he was in and out of the bank within 43 seconds.

The robber is described as standing between 5'6'' and 5'8'', wearing a brown hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and sneakers.  His shoes may have the color green on them.  The robber was wearing a mask and his skin was covered, said Chief Propst.

The same bank was also robbed on March 26, 2014. Star City police released surveillance photos showing a man in a skeleton mask with a hunting knife who jumped on top of the teller counter to threaten employees.

Police have not made any arrests in connection to that robbery.
